Gaping Holes and the Letter I

As the weeks progress, I'm sure you will notice more and more gaping holes in what is supposed to be a fairly "scripted" curriculum. For those of you that are capable of completing all the activities...I commend you (and may someday ask you to share your secrets to success)! However, the gaping holes in the curriculum are an uncanny reflection of the gaping holes in what the Bangert house actually completes each week. So if you're in the same boat, take heart! You are not alone! Here is Letter I for all who fearless trudge on!

Ketchup...

(Holding our harvest cornucopia)

(I may or may not have purposely saved some rotten vegitables for this.)

(I was super-impressed with my creativity in adding a real tree branch!)

(Cutting and gluing our ladybug lifecycles)

(We're still working on the whole "limbo" thing!)

(We REALLY enjoyed the lion masks!)

Yeah...We're Behind!!

I can't even find my pictures from Letter L week...we're in bad shape! :) The holidays are rapidly approaching and we are getting more and more crunched for time. I've got a new plan of attack as we finish up letter H and begin Letter T. We will continue to do circle time (where we review Bible verse, calendar, and 3 part drill) every morning. However, I'll be combining the activities into 2-3 days a week depending on the state of our schedule. This way, we're hitting the things that really matter (ie. Bible verses, phoneme practice) and the rest can be supplemental depending on the amount of time we have each week. Hopefully, ya'll aren't as far behind as we are, so I'll try to keep up with the lesson plans even if we aren't quite there yet ourselves!
(You'll notice I've put a new "2nd Quarter" tab below...which is where you'll find another link to the Letter T lesson plans as well as the next 8 weeks)
Have a Terrific week! :)

Week 8 - Letter H

Sorry for the delay. Letter H is finally here! We won't be starting until the end of this week so I can't offer any insights at the moment, but feel free to leave comments if anything does/doesn't work! :)
(As always, you can find all the lesson plans under "1st Quarter: Weeks 1-8" below)

Week 7 AGAIN!!

It shouldn't surprise me that it is getting harder and harder to get through a week's worth of activities. Things are a little crazy in the Bangert house right now. Scott is in the process of finding the perfect job. I am in the process of getting our house ready for the depressing world that is the real estate market. And Brody and Taryn are more interested in the beautiful change in the weather outside. Top all that off with a much needed vacation to Atlanta (ok...vacation for me, business conference for Scott)...and we have dug ourselves a hole as far as the preschool adventure is concerned! But, I guess that's what is so nice about preschool (and homeschool in general). As the parent, I get to determine the timetable...so I've decided we'll be repeating some of Week 7 and starting Week 8 around Wednesday. I've almost finished Week 8 lesson plans (while on vacation, might I add!) and I'll post them, hopefully, by tomorrow.
If nothing else, let my failings be an encouragement to you! We're all just doing the best we can playing with the cards God deals us!

**How to Avoid Buying Lions**

I can't remember off the top of my head which day we'll be "Counting Lions", but I really didn't want to go buy a bunch of plastic lions. Thankfully, my husband has a stash of cheap poker chips (some of which happen to be yellow) that I "borrowed" and drew on lion faces. I'll have to let you know the look on his face the next time he plays poker! (Thankfully it's not all that often!)

Letter M and Week 7: Letter L

(Measuring)

(Making a Marshmallow M)

We didn't quite do as much with Letter M as we would've liked. We had a rare week of beautiful weather in Houston so we took advantage and spent most of our free time exploring the great outdoors! We did play with Mud and Monkey bars so that counts, right? :) I've added Letter L lesson plans which you can also access below under "1st Quarter: Weeks1-8". It's supposed to be another great week to be outside, so we'll see how much we get done. Good Luck!! :)
